Founded in Singapore by Afghan immigrant Amir Mohamed Khan in 1921, Amir & Sons is officially recognized as Singapore's oldest Persian Carpet establishment.
The founder believed in and upheld what he felt to be the most important values:
Quality, Dependability, and Old-World Courtesy.
On September 12th 1945, the Japanese Armed Forces in South East Asia surrendered to Supreme Allied Commander Lord Louis Mountbatten in Singapore, thus officially ending the Japanese occupation of South East Asia.
Amir & Sons was chosen to supply carpets for the Official Surrender Ceremony in the Municipal Council Chamber (now known as City Hall).
The official letter from Major General B.C.H. Kimmins, Assistant Chief of Staff at the Headquarters of the Supreme Allied Commander, South East Asia, thanking Amir & Sons for the use of its carpets in the Official Surrender Ceremony.
His youngest son Taher Amir Khan took over the business in 1961, at the tender age of only 21 years. From that point on, Taher Amir concentrated on acquiring only the best handmade Persian carpets, with a particular focus on those from Isfahan, Tabrez, Qum and Kashan.
