"Isfahan carpets are made on vertical looms... The warp and weft are usually in cotton, but the finer carpets utilise silk both in the warp and weft. Very fine wool is used in the pile."
"The Persian knot (Senna) is used and the density is very high, reaching over 600 knots per square inch. Isfahan carpets all have floral designs, usually with a central medallion on a field decorated with a motif of interlaced flowering branches. The range of colours is very wide and, by alternating light and dark colours, a harmonious combination of ground and design is often created."
