"Nain carpets, as a class, are the very finest woven carpets made in Iran since the war. The decoration is similar to that of Isfahans, but there are fewer carpets with a central medallion from Nain than from Isfahan. Vertical looms are used. The warp and weft are usually in very fine cotton, the weft containing two rows of thread passing between the rows of knots. The wool of the pile is of exquisite quality and is always very close-cropped. Silk is often used to outline some parts of the decoration and this makes the motif stand out. The Senna (Persian) knot is used and reaches a density of over 600 knots per sq inch."
